Program Details

The Master of Shariah and Law (Criminal Law) programme is geared towards the needs of students who have completed a Bachelor of Laws or Bachelor of Shariah and Law programme and wish to pursue a master’s degree specialising in Criminal Law. The programme will provide candidates the opportunity to enhance their understating of both Shariah and law aspects that are relevant to the Criminal Law. It will provide students the opportunity to examine key issues and principles of Criminal Law and deal with complex legal issues, drawing the right judgments. Upon completion, graduates will be able to formulate interpretations and arguments in line with legal frameworks of the Maldives, enabling them to follow a career in legal practice.

Entry Criteria

Completion of a related Bachelor’s Degree in legal practice, or a related Graduate Diploma at level 8 in the Maldives.

  • Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence (Usool Fiqh)

  • Human Rights in Islam

  • International Criminal Law

* Award Postgraduate Certificate in Shariah and Law

  • Law of Evidence

  • Islamic Criminal Law

  • Research Methodology

  • Research Project or Consultation Project

Intake: January / May / September Course Fee: MVR 4,199 per month x 15 months
